The Mojo Motorcycles Story

 

What began as a way to make money while navigating their way through university, soon lead to a business that would exceed all expectations and set the benchmark for importing global motorcycle brands sourced for the Australian motorcycle market.

 

Director’s Michael Poynton and Joshua Carter were both at university studying when they began importing motorcycles. In the early days, while they continued to study, the boys were filling orders from their garage from a container that was dropped on a residential street.

Located in Altona North, Victoria, Mojo Motorcycles is a dynamic motorcycle import and distribution company providing Australians and New Zealanders with access to global motorcycle brands through our nationwide network of quality dealers.

 

Our growing range of quality brands include CFMoto, KYMCO, Landboss, SWM and Sherco Motorcycles.

TIMELINE

2003

Mojo Motorcycles is established by Michael Poynton and Joshua Carter.

2004

Mojo Motorcycles establishes MotoVert. Manufactured in China, the brand is successfully launched by Mojo Motorcycles in the USA, Canada, Spain, France, Germany, Estonia, Finland, South Africa and New Zealand.

2005 - 2008

Motovert becomes the world’s number one selling pit bike brand and is largely regarded today as one of the highest selling pit brands in the world.

 

On the back of Motovert’s success, Mojo Motorcycles expands and becomes the Australian importer responsible for the distribution TGB scooters across the country. The company imports a small quantity of CFMoto scooters to test market suitability.

2009

A massive year of growth for the company as Mojo Motorcycles takes on the importation and distribution of CFMoto motorcycles and ATVs as well as Daelim motorcycles and scooters.

2010

Adding to their catalogue of interests, the company steps into the urban bicycle market and launches the Mojo Bike. Revolutionalising the custom bicycle market in Australia, Mojo Bike customers design their own custom bicycle online, order and have delivered directly to their door.

2011

Mojo Motorcycles now import and distribute their brands to a rapidly expanding, nationwide dealer network.

 

The newest addition to the portfolio is KTM Bikes which Mojo Motorcycles officially launches to the Australian market in 2011 and boasts a truly unique and innovative product range including the latest in 29er technology.

2012

Mojo Motorcycles extend their hold on the motorcycle market, growing an astronomical 57.2% in sales and holding 3.6% of the entire Australian motorcycle market.

 

Through the introduction of innovative and value for money brands in the Australian motorcycle market, Mojo Motorcycles triples in size and becomes the second largest importer of scooters to Australia.

2013

The CFMoto CF500 Classic becomes the number one selling ATV in Australia (450+cc segment) outselling all the Japanese brands on the market and cementing the company as a major player in the Australian motorcycle market.

 

Mojo’s biggest selling brand, CFMoto announces a partnership with global motorcycle powerhouse KTM. The deal sees CFMoto chosen above 20,000 manufacturers to build a selection of their bikes for the Chinese market – the world’s largest motorcycle market.

 

The fact that CFMoto was chosen above all others clearly demonstrates global reverence for the company.

2014

Mojo Motorcycles launches its operation in New Zealand and begins importing and distributing motorcycles and ATVs through a growing national dealer network.

 

CFMoto sells it’s 10,000th vehicle in Australia.

 

French motorcycle brand, Sherco announces Mojo Motorcycles as its official Australian and New Zealand Distributor of the enduro range. Sales increase 400% in the first year Mojo Motorcycles has the brand under its umbrella.

2015

Mojo Motorcycles moves into state of the art warehouse and head office facilities in Altona North, Victoria.

 

Motul and Pirelli join Sherco as the official sponsor of the Sherco Enduro Racing Team which launched at the Australian Enduro – X championships in February 2015.

 

Mojo Motorcycles adds Landboss, Powered by Perkins to their off-road brand line up.

 

Iconic Italian motorcycle brand, SWM relaunches at EICMA and announces Mojo Motorcycles as the official Australian distributor of the brand.

 

Mojo Motorcycles makes a successful bid for the importation and distribution of global motorcycle giant KYMCO.
